Established in Taipei on April 14, 1950 , PEWC was initially named "Pacific Wire & Cable Manufacturing Factory" and was the first wire and cable factory in Taiwan. On December 30, 1957, the company expanded and reorganized Pacific Wire and Cable Co. In 1963, Pacific Wire & Cable became the first listed wire and cable company in Taiwan.
